Bold conservative leadership in the U.S. Senate is rare and it's seen even less from first-year senators who are told to sit down, be quiet, and watch how things are supposed to be done in Washington.

That's why Senator Josh Hawley, the freshman senator from Missouri, has impressed us so much. He has also earned the praise of President Trump who calls Hawley, "our young star."

Time after time, Hawley has stepped forward to speak out and lead on important issues – even when it has meant upsetting some of the leaders in his own party and drawing criticism from the media.

First, he was one of only 11 senators to oppose the budget-busting omnibus spending bill that failed to secure our borders.

Then when Michael Bogren equated Catholics to the Ku Klux Klan in his Senate testimony to be a U.S. district judge, Senator Hawley objected and took a courageous stand against the nomination.

As a consequence for his principled leadership, the Wall Street Journal's editorial board blasted him multiple times for refusing to bow to the judicial establishment. Senator Hawley held strong and the nomination was ultimately defeated.

Senator Hawley has also shown leadership in exposing and fighting the discrimination we see against conservatives and their ideas from Twitter, Facebook, and other technology companies.

And now he's calling for sanctions on Mexican leaders for their failure to stand up to the drug cartels that are flooding our country with meth, trafficking children, and brutally slaughtering American citizens.

The liberal media does not like his outspoken conservative leadership and is determined to destroy him.
