Travel update in Nottingham 14 January - 21 January

Woodville Road, Sherwood, trial scheme

Last year we consulted on a proposal for a two-way closure to motor traffic on Woodville Road, near the junction with Haydn Road.

To gather further feedback a trial closure will begin on Monday 17 January and last for six weeks. We'll be inviting comments from residents living in the area, who have been contacted directly, before making a decision on whether to leave the closure in place, modify it, or remove it.

This scheme is funded through the Government's Active Travel Fund to encourage more walking and cycling by creating safer, more attractive routes.

Nottingham Bike Aid

There are 100 bikes left to give away as part of the City Council funded Bike Aid project, delivered by Ridewise and Nottingham Bikeworks. The project provides free bikes to low income earners working in Nottingham. Find out more.

Rail services 🚆

EMR: Due to increased staff absence and reduced customer demand, some small timetable reductions will be in place from Monday 17 January. Owing to the week-by-week nature of the reductions, online journey planners will be updated on a weekly basis. Check EMR's webpage here.

CrossCountry: Due to train crew availability, there will be disruption to services until further notice. Check CrossCountry's website for the latest information.

Staying safe

In line with latest government guidance, face coverings are required on public transport. Please wear a face covering (unless exempt). If you need to travel, follow the safer travel guidance.

Please check with your local operator before travelling for the latest information.

All operators in the city continue to clean vehicles thoroughly on a regular basis, and windows on buses will be kept open for ventilation.

  • Use contactless payment methods where possible
  • Keep wearing a face covering
  • Carry hand sanitizer with you to use regularly
  • Plan ahead - avoid peak hours and routes
