Yesterday, our campaign reached out to you about the first mid-month deadline of the election year. We have until midnight tonight to reach our $5,000 goal, and we have $1,049 left to raise.

But, before I ask you to contribute your hard-earned dollars, I want to talk about what's happening in D.C. and why your support is so crucial.

It's no secret that important legislation is stalling in the Senate — the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Protecting Our Democracy Act, the For the People Act, the Build Back Better Act to name a few. And like the rest of America, I am frustrated and disheartened by the lack of action in the Senate.

The American people are done waiting for action — especially when it comes to COVID-19 relief and civil rights protections. That's why I am calling on the Senate to make an exception to the filibuster.

Attacks on our democracy didn't end on January 6, 2021, and we are running out of time to defend the right to vote and the sanctity of our democracy. This isn't an exaggeration, John: the stakes could not be higher. And that's why I am leaning on your support.

The future of our democracy depends on Democrats staying in control of the House, especially when a majority of Republicans refuse to fight back against corruption in the Halls of Congress.
