Axios: Supreme Court blocks Biden's vaccine mandate for large employers. Several Republican states last year filed lawsuits against the Biden administration over its vaccine-or-test mandate, with some calling it "unconstitutional, unlawful and unwise."
The New York Times: R.N.C. Signals a Pullout From Presidential Debates. The Republican National Committee is preparing to change its rules to require presidential candidates seeking the party’s nomination to sign a pledge to not participate in any debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
CNBC: Despite higher wages, inflation gave the average worker a 2.4% pay cut last year. The Consumer Price Index, a key inflation measure, jumped 7% in December from a year ago, the fastest rate since June 1982, the U.S. Department of Labor said Wednesday.
Fox News: Biden administration still to release long-awaited ICE report on arrests, deportations of illegal immigrants. The annual report contains data on ICE’s enforcement operations and investigations throughout the fiscal year. The Washington Free Beacon reported that the report has been released at the end of the calendar year at least since 2011.
Fox Business: Jobless claims unexpectedly rise to 230,000 as omicron surges. The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed to the highest level since mid-November as an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases driven by the highly contagious omicron variant threatened to undermine the economy's recovery.
