IF YOU LOVE LIONS, YOUR GIFT COULD HELP SAVE THIS ICONIC ANIMAL |
Born
Free’s Year of the Lion, our vital new fundraising campaign, got off to a
roaring start with the launch of our Born Free Forever exhibition of 25
life-sized bronze lions at Millennium Green in London. A year of action for lions, your gift to our Forever
Lions fund could help stop their devastating decline in the wild and
exploitation in captivity. |
“This
is Born Free’s Year of the Lion, in memory of my husband Bill because, if he
had lived, he would be 100 this year. It is absolutely crucial the whole world
focuses on saving the hugely diminishing numbers of lions left in the wild.”

Wild
lions are ruthlessly destroyed – speared, snared, hunted for fun. The suffering
is immense. The pain unthinkable. Horrific injuries can lead to agonising
deaths. But, it’s not just the torment of individuals. This is a conservation
crisis. Tens of thousands of lions have been killed and today as few as 20,000
cling to survival in their wild ranges – 90% lost since Born Free was filmed in the sixties.
Studies suggest these
iconic animals could go extinct across much of their range by 2050. Africa
without lions? Unimaginable. We can’t let this happen! We MUST save the lion. |

Throughout
our Year of the Lion, the Forever Lions fund will focus on four key objectives: |
FOREVER TOGETHER
Achieving co-existence for 2,000 people, 200 lions and 20 communities. |
|
FOREVER HOME
Providing safe homes and loving care for 30 rescued lions. |
|
FOREVER FUTURE
Doubling our UK school outreach to empower future generations. |
|
FOREVER WHOLE
Persuading countries to follow the UK’s lead in banning hunting trophy imports. |
|

We will not stand by while the symbol of Born
Free is destroyed. We know you won’t either.
Thank
you from your lion-loving friends at Born Free. |
