On the State of the State, Congress of Counties

I was honored to attend Governor Holcomb's sixth State of the State Address in-person this past Tuesday. As we've come to expect, he delivered his address full of passion and with an unmatched enthusiasm about our state's future. And while there were many great moments throughout, my personal favorite was when he reminded our law enforcement that we have their back, stating, "To Indiana’s law enforcement community, I say, we say, 'Thank you' and 'We’ve got your back!'" The chamber erupted in applause and gave our law enforcement a much-deserved standing ovation.

I also wanted to remind you of the upcoming Congress of Counties event in French Lick, Ind., on February 25-26. This two-day training and networking conference is for Republican Party leaders, candidates, grassroots activists, volunteers, and anyone who is interested in moving our state forward. Senator Todd Young will be joining us as a special guest for our Friday reception...you won't want to miss it! You can find more information about the event here ([link removed]) .

Strong Like Indiana Steel
Gov. Holcomb delivers his 2022 State of the State Address.
Gov. Holcomb smiles and looks to the gallery after recognizing a special guest at the 2022 State of the State Address.

This past Tuesday, Governor Holcomb delivered his 2022 State of the State Address, his sixth since taking office. In it, he presented a bold plan to further Indiana’s historic momentum and lead us out of the pandemic.

It's worth watching and reading in its entirety, which you can do here ([link removed]) and here ([link removed]) , but we've provided some quick highlights below:

Economy: Years of strong Republican leadership have put the state in an unprecedented financial position, and the stats back it up.

Education and Workforce Development: A historic investment in new education dollars combined with a deeper alignment of our educational, talent, and career pathways will ensure that the Indiana economy continues to boom, and Hoosiers thrive.

Health and Wellness: Indiana has made progress in areas like reducing infant mortality, but there is more work to be done to truly be firing on all cylinders.

Community Development: Indiana is maintaining its aggressive pace to build a 21st-century infrastructure network that links Hoosiers to each other, the nation, and a world of opportunities.

Good Government Service: Gov. Holcomb will continue to partner with local communities on public safety efforts and deliver good government service.

Todd Young Releases First TV Ad of 2022 Campaign

Sen. Young's first ad focuses on the border catastrophe of Joe Biden's making.

This past Monday, Senator Todd Young's campaign released its first ad of 2022, focusing on the raging crisis at our southern border.

Even after facing a record shattering 1.7 million illegal border crossings in the past 12 months, Joe Biden and the Democrats have yet to propose a solution.

Sullivan Officially Files for 2022 Convention

Sullivan announces her filing.

This past Monday, our Secretary of State, Holli Sullivan, officially filed to be a candidate at the 2022 Indiana Republican State Convention.

“As Secretary of State I know how much is at stake. I’m running because safe and secure elections is not a destination. It is a relentless pursuit to ensure that all eligible voters are able to cast a ballot and all legal votes are counted in a timely manner, free of fraud, corruption and interference, stated Sullivan.

"Here in Indiana, we have safe and secure elections with our strong voter ID laws and our transparent process for maintaining current and accurate voter rolls. Democrats and their allies are trying to federalize our elections. We can never let this happen. Hoosier elections should always be run by Hoosiers."

You can watch her announcement video above.

ICYMI: $1.9 Trillion American Rescue Plan Created 0 Jobs in 2021

Matt Weidinger, a Senior Fellow and Rowe Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), recently penned a blog on the December jobs report and what it meant for Joe Biden and the Democrats' $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act.

Although millions of jobs were promised, not a single one was created. In fact, job numbers were actually lower than if the legislation hadn't been passed at all.
