I want to take you behind the scenes today to show you some of the costs I’m preparing for in this election. Running for this seat in 2020 and getting 35,000 votes gave me a lot of experience in this area. Let’s take a look:
1️⃣ Each postcard (union-printed ✊) costs 11 cents. We’ll mail these postcards to voters to remind them to vote.
2️⃣ My district is in the Seattle-Tacoma media market, and ranks #12 in the nation for number of TV viewers. That means it’s expensive to buy TV ads here. In 2020, my Democratic opponent Derek Kilmer spent over 25 times more on TV ads than he did in 2018. He spent $400,000 in 2020. He used these ads to make misleading statements, like claiming he supports universal healthcare when he actually opposes Medicare for All. I’ll need at least $100,000 for TV ads this time to counter Kilmer’s misleading claims. ==> Help me pay for TV ads by donating here.
3️⃣ I’ll need at least $50,000 to buy hyper-targeted digital ads, which will go specifically to people likely to support me. We’re basing this on our internal campaign data from 2020 as well as the 2020 election results, and I’ve hired a data firm to provide a detailed analysis, so our digital ads will be well spent. ==> Help me reach voters with targeted digital ads. 4️⃣ Phone banking during our 2020 campaign cost $338 per day, or $10,000+ per month. We’ll need $30,000 for 3 months of phone banking. ==> Give $28 now to pay for half an hour of phone banking! Every dollar counts.
5️⃣ Each text costs 5 cents to send, and we need to budget $2,500 for that. Texts are important for reminding our supporters to vote. ==> Give $5 now and fund 100 texts to supporters. Thank you!

I have a LOT of votes to win. In 2020, I won over twice as many votes as AOC did in her winning 2018 primary — but I didn’t win the primary. Washington State has much higher turnout than other states, which is good! It just means I have a lot more votes to win, and I have to raise more money to reach all those voters.
