--
I am excited to announce that I will be running for
re-election to the Michigan State Senate in 2022 -- in the newly drawn
Senate District 3!
"Getting Things Done" has always been our slogan, starting back in
2014 during my campaign for the State House. It's been a tremendous
honor to serve my community.
I'm the daughter of Taiwanese American immigrants who came to this
country looking for better opportunity, and I'm the mother of two
young daughters whose future I fight for every day. I'm a community
organizer and social worker turned public servant. I first ran for
office at the encouragement of mentors and friends so that I could
make a bigger impact and help create the change our communities
need.
I've fought hard for a quality education system that works for all
families, a fairer justice system, an economy that works for all of
us, solutions to the flooding in our neighborhoods, safe and
affordable housing, clean air, safe and affordable water, better roads
and bridges, and gun violence prevention.
I've built a strong track record as one of the hardest
working legislators in Lansing who has passed numerous bipartisan
bills while also being a strong, unwavering voice for equity,
opportunity, access, and justice.
Over the past seven years, my team and I have served over 3800
residents with direct constituent services. Through our neighborhood
service center, we run programs like a fellowship program for high
school girls and a community baby shower for low-income pregnant
women. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we checked in with thousands of
residents to see how we could help, distributed 37,000 masks, and
uplifted pandemic-related equity issues in housing, health care, water
shut-offs and more.
The new Senate District 3 runs from Downtown Detroit, through
Highland Park and Hamtramck, to Hazel Park, Madison Heights, Warren,
and portions of Clawson, Royal Oak, Troy, and Sterling Heights. Check
out the map below!
My family is excited to have returned home. After
discussing this move for over a year, we are now closer to my older
daughter's school and my husband's work, closer to friends and family,
and part of a community I've loved and lived in for many
years.
I am excited about running for reelection to keep serving my home
district -- having lived in Lafayette Park, Islandview, Woodbridge,
and New Center for over twelve years, and having good friends in the
Oakland and Macomb communities in the newly drawn Senate District
3!
I have served portions of this district for seven years so far in
the legislature, and almost forty percent of the people in the new
District 3 are in my current district. In my conversations with
friends and local leaders across the new district, I have been truly
humbled by the overwhelming positive response and excitement. I will
do my best to partner with each local community and each neighborhood,
no matter which county you live in.
I will continue to work hard for my current residents through the
end of this term. My work together with community organizations and
incredible residents, no matter where you are, will continue as we
organize and advocate for opportunity, access, equity, and
justice.
Can you chip in $5, $10, $25, or $50 today?
Your support will help ensure our campaign's success. We have an
ambitious field plan and your help will make it
possible.
Thank you a million times over for your support. I'm grateful and
will continue to work as hard as I can.
With gratitude,
