A Note from Chrissy

It's a brand-new year. I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed some peace and joy over the holidays. Things are as busy as ever in Washington right now and I want you to know what I've been up to. From child care to infrastructure, here's what you need to know:

The Mercury: Reading and Pottstown airports awarded grants as part of infrastructure bill

"I was excited to convene state, local, and federal officials to highlight investments in our community as a result of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This important and long overdue law will not only improve the Paoli Train Station right here in our backyard, but more than $70 million in funding will go toward critical updates to airports in Reading and Pottstown. I'm proud of this landmark legislation, and I know it will positively affect so many of us here in PA-06. I'm looking forward to sharing more ways we'll benefit from this historic, generational investment!"

From the Pennsylvania Capital-Star: What we need to do to keep the birthplace of our democracy from becoming its graveyard (opinion)

"On the anniversary of the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, I warned of the clear and present danger to our democratic institutions taking root right here in Pennsylvania and prescribed three things we can do to reverse it."

Reading Eagle: Child care system needs boost from Congress (opinion)

"The pandemic has underscored the critical role that our child care system plays in the lives of working families and our economy. Nationwide labor challenges are, in part, due to families struggling to find quality and affordable care options for their children. I know these struggles firsthand, as I had to choose between my career and my family many years ago. That's why I recently shared more about why I believe Congress must act to enable parents to both work and care for their children."

From Capitol Hill: Chrissy Houlahan speaks about way to tackle the urgent climate crisis

"As a STEM professional and former high school chemistry teacher, I know that climate change is one of the greatest challenges we face right now. Recently, I spoke to members of the Citizens' Climate Lobby, Natural Lands, and the Sierra Club about what I saw in Glasgow at COP26 and the ways we can confront this challenge head on. Climate change is no longer something that will happen if we don't act, it's happening now. So let's take action. Let's listen to the science and make data-driven decisions to keep us all safe and thriving for decades to come."

From Capitol Hill: Chrissy Houlahan advocates for extension of student loan moratorium

"The rise of the omicron variant highlights the need for Congress to remain ready to act to help those whose lives and livelihoods have been most impacted. Along with Rep. Conor Lamb and my colleagues in Congress, I called on President Biden to delay the restarting of student loan payments. I’m glad he heard our call to action and extended the moratorium until May 1."

That’s it for this month, but stay tuned for more updates on my fight for working families in our Commonwealth and across the nation. And, while it's somewhat out of the ordinary in Washington, I take time every week to call back constituents who've contacted our office. These conversations keep me grounded in the most urgent issues facing our community. I’d love to hear from you, too! There is work to be done. – Chrissy

While Chrissy is focused on delivering progress in the House, fundraising is the last thing on her mind. But the GOP is narrowing in on our critical battleground – and amid Republican gerrymandering, the GOP just named Chrissy one of their top targets for a blue-to-red flip. We must strengthen our resources early to make sure we can defend this purple district come 2022 – so we’re asking for her:

Will you make a donation to help reelect Chrissy to Congress? Your support will make such a difference in our work to defend this critical Pennsylvania seat and keep the House blue.
