Youngkin’s cabinet shares ties to fossil fuels and energy companies

Jimmy Cloutier


Jimmy joins OpenSecrets as the Roy W. Howard Reporting Fellow. He earned his undergraduate degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014, after which he served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Armenia. Before making a career switch to journalism, he worked in education and publishing. While completing his studies at Arizona State University's Howard Center for Investigative Journalism, he reported on police surveillance and the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Katherine Huggins


Katherine joins OpenSecrets as a reporting intern for the spring semester. She is currently a graduate journalism student at Northwestern University, specializing in politics, policy and foreign affairs. Through Northwestern, Katherine is a credentialed reporter on Capitol Hill, where she has enjoyed covering everything from tech regulations to bipartisan dog parades. Katherine graduated with a B.A. in Journalism + Design from The New School in May 2021, after which she went on to work part-time as a writer for Mediaite.
