A message from JMC Founder and Chairman, Jack Miller
Looking Back and Moving Forward

Dear John,

The year 2021 was a wake-up call for the future of civic education in America.

American lawmakers, media pundits, and parents are finally calling attention to our declining civic knowledge.

They are right to be concerned.

S ([link removed]) urvey ([link removed]) after survey ([link removed]) shows that our country is growing less informed and more divided ([link removed]) with each passing year. There are serious gaps in our country's history, government, and social studies curricula that are being filled by divisive narratives like Critical Race Theory and the 1619 project.

And while many have offered expensive and lofty solutions to address this problem, the Jack Miller Center is already making real progress on the ground every day.

In July, we launched our five-year strategic plan to triple our budget to meet the growing demands for change in higher education and K-12 civics. We are now in the midst of doubling our staff, expanding our academic programs at all levels, and expanding our K-12 initiative.

At the close of the year, Michael Andrews stepped down from his position as President of the Jack Miller Center. I am grateful to Mike for the 17 years of hard work and dedication he has given to our mission.

Now, our national search for a new President is well underway. We are looking for an ambitious and experienced, visionary leader to bring JMC to the forefront of all American civics discussions and actions.

One thing is certain: JMC is just getting started. And 2022 is already shaping up to be our biggest and most transformative year to date. Here are a few exciting things coming in the year ahead:
* Because of the great success of the Florida statewide [link removed] Civics and History Initiative for K-12 teachers, we are expanding the initiative to Wisconsin, Virginia, and Texas.
* Develop 15 new university-level partner programs ([link removed]) dedicated to teaching American political thought and history on campus.
* Create a state-of-the-art online library containing the most critical documents in the American political tradition for educators, students, and the public.
* Offer new graduate courses for K-12 civics teachers at the University of Chicago, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tufts University, and the University of Virginia.

And our signature programs—like the Summer Institute and Jeffersonian Seminars— continue to grow.

This work is all made possible by the generous support of our donors. Please consider a [link removed] donation to the Jack Miller Center and help us continue this important work.

We believe that "the battle for the soul of our nation will be won or lost in our classrooms." Your donation, large or small, is an investment in the future of our country—for you, for your children, for your grandchildren.

Gratefully,

Jack Miller
