‌John -- Yesterday, our movement scored a decisive victory for fair elections as the Ohio Supreme Court ruled in favor of voters who challenged gerrymandered legislative maps. Today, I want to give you credit for being a part of that victory. Now we must immediately pivot to our work on the national stage.

The Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act will end congressional partisan gerrymandering and protect the right to vote nationwide. But if the Senate fails to act soon on passing this legislation, the provisions in the bill won’t be able to be implemented before the midterm election cycle begins.

Every Democrat in the Senate already signaled support for voting rights and anti-gerrymandering reforms when they all voted to advance a similar bill -- the For the People Act -- last year.

Now Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has given Senate Republicans a deadline -- come to the negotiating table before MLK Day or Democrats will be forced to change the rules that are allowing them to block this bill.

Every senator -- regardless of their party -- needs to hear from their constituents who support democracy reform like the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. That’s why All On The Line continues our advocacy efforts to help voters call and message their senators.

Inaction on these pressing issues will result in a successful Republican power grab thanks to manipulated maps and voter suppression -- we need to act now.
