John,
Today, the House passed a new piece of voting rights legislation: The Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. As the name suggests, it’s a merger of the Senate’s Freedom to Vote Act and the House’s John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. But the bill has several important new provisions as well. In my latest piece, I’ve laid out what these changes mean for fighting voter suppression and combatting election subversion. Read “The New Voting Rights Bill Is the Law We Need Right Now” on Democracy Docket now.
Things are moving quickly on Capitol Hill this week. Confused about how a NASA bill became a voting rights bill overnight, and what the Senate strategy is exactly? We’ve got you covered — check out our live page to stay up to date on the latest, and read through our Twitter thread for a play-by-play and analysis of what exactly is going on in the Senate.
Keep up the fight,
Marc
