Today, the House passed a new piece of voting rights legislation: The Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. As the name suggests, it’s a merger of the Senate’s Freedom to Vote Act and the House’s John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. But the bill has several important new provisions as well.
