If we want our country to continue functioning as a democracy, Congress must pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. No ifs, ands, or buts.
Any day now, the Senate will decide whether they’ll do what’s necessary: abolish the filibuster and protect and expand voting rights for all Americans. This legislation could very well be our last shot to prevent the GOP from taking a stranglehold on our electoral processes at every level through voter suppression and intimidation.

Right now, bad actors working within the corrupt GOP political machine (Scott Franklin, the Treason Caucus, and Ron DeSantis among them), are leveraging a deliberate disinformation campaign to attack our freedom to vote, and introducing thousands of voter suppression bills to control election outcomes, criminalize election officials for doing their jobs, and give partisan poll watchers the ability to harass and intimidate voters.
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is our last best shot to put a stop to that, and restore power to the people. That power belongs with no one else: not presidents, not state legislatures, not Democrats, and certainly not far-right Republicans.
But here’s the thing: Because Senate rules require a 60-vote threshold in order for this legislation to pass, and Republicans refuse to support it, Democrats must abolish the filibuster to pass this immensely popular legislation.
That’s why I’m demanding that our Democratic Senators do what is necessary, abolish the filibuster, and protect our democracy by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Will you join me by adding your name now?
