Breaking news: Jeff Sessions is running for Senate in Alabama again.

That's right -- Jeff Sessions, the former senator and former Trump attorney general, has decided he'd like to be a senator yet again -- and he's running against Doug Jones to get there.

We don't need another hyper-partisan extremist in the Senate. And that's Jeff Sessions to a T. Now more than ever, our country needs to come together and actually start getting things done, from health care and protecting people with pre-existing conditions, to civil rights and advancing equality. Senator Doug Jones is committed to all of that -- he's been a champion for Alabama families from day one. But it couldn't be more clear that Jeff Sessions is only committed to advancing Donald Trump's agenda.

Make no mistake, the race in Alabama just became one of the biggest in our country. Sessions is sure to have the full weight of the far-right dark money machine at his side.

So right here and right now we need to keep Doug Jones in the Senate: Donate $5 or more now to show you stand with Senator Doug Jones.

Jeff Sessions led the way on the Muslim ban and family separation -- not to mention he's one of the big reasons Stephen Miller has so much power in the White House and why this administration is so focused on violent immigration policies.

And his record on civil rights is horrible going back decades -- in a state like Alabama, and in a moment like this, we can't go backwards. We need to be striving toward a better and more equal and progressive Senate. Jeff Sessions wants anything but that.

Not just that -- he's voted against the Violence Against Women Act, to defund Planned Parenthood, and to allow torture in CIA interrogations. That's not the kind of representation we need in the Senate.

This just shows that Mitch McConnell is getting desperate -- Doug outraised the entire Republican field last quarter and leads every one of them in the polls. We made history in 2017, and we know how to win. We're going to come together and beat McConnell, Sessions, or whoever else they throw at us -- but we need to come together right now to show Doug our support when he needs it most.
