Equal access to abortion care—everywhere—is vital to social and economic equality, reproductive autonomy, and the right to determine the course of our own lives. Yet for more than four months, S.B. 8, Texas's cruel and extreme ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy has ended most abortion care in the state.

The right to abortion is not real if only some people can access it. That's why we need the U.S. Senate to pass the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA) NOW. Send a message to your senators now demanding they pass WHPA and secure federal protections for abortion access for ALL.

WHPA is a federal law that would protect the right to access abortion across the United States, free from medically unnecessary restrictions like mandatory waiting periods, biased counseling, two-trip requirements, and mandatory ultrasounds.

These restrictions have been the cornerstone of efforts by anti-abortion lawmakers across the country who have launched attack after attack on our reproductive rights—and they're not slowing down. 2021 was the most devastating year for abortion access since Roe v. Wade was decided.

Roe remains the law of the land, but for the seven million women of reproductive age in Texas, the constitutional right to access abortion is effectively meaningless. The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed the state's blatantly unconstitutional ban on abortion to remain in place, harming the people of Texas and denying them their constitutionally protected right to abortion care.

And while the situation in Texas is dire, it's not the only place people face a lack of access to this critical care. Nearly 90% of counties in the United States don't even have a single abortion provider.

We need a federal law that protects access to abortion care for ALL. We need the Women's Health Protection Act.
