It's National Sticker Day, and we want to get in on the fun!
Hi Supporter,
Today is National Sticker Day, and we want to get in on the fun. So for today only, when you sign up for the 1.5 Degree Challenge, we’ll send you a free Team Sierra sticker* -- because after all, sticking together and sticking with a challenge is what we do best.
This 5-week climate action and exercise challenge begins Monday and runs through February 18. You’ll join hundreds across the nation who have already committed to moving their bodies for 15 minutes every day and taking action toward climate solutions.
Why 1.5?
A 1.5 degrees Celsius (or a 2.7°F) rise in average global temperatures is the threshold for climate catastrophe. Right now we’re at 1.2.
The last 7 years have been the hottest on record. And the warming temperatures are creating more weather disasters each year. Last year, there were 20 climate disaster events, causing hundreds of deaths and costing billions of dollars. For context, the past 37 years averaged only 7.4 weather disasters events.
What can we do?
We know grassroots fundraising works. This is where you come in.
Carbon pollution must be completely eliminated by 2050. This is where the Sierra Club comes in.
We are taking on the powerful fossil fuel industry – in fact, we just retired our 350th coal plant. We are working with cities to transition to 100% clean renewable energy, like solar and wind, in an equitable and just way. We are demanding our leaders take bold action now and adopt the solutions offered by the climate movement.
We still have the power to prevent the worst outcomes, so now is the time for us to come together for the future health of our planet and generations to come. Will you be a part of our team?
Thank you,
Team Sierra
