** Help build a greener transport future
------------------------------------------------------------

Good morning , and Happy New Year!

I'm writing because today is your last chance to donate to Campaign for Better Transport's Christmas appeal.

If you've already given, warmest thanks. To a small charity like ours, every donation makes a big difference, meaning we can do so much more to campaign for a greener transport future.

If you haven't yet given and you'd like to, it's not too late:

** Thanks to the kindness of our donors, last year we...
------------------------------------------------------------
* Showed that the way forward is public transport

We launched a major campaign ([link removed]) to show the Government that public transport will be vital to a green, fair recovery after the pandemic.
* Called for fair fares

We made the case for affordable ([link removed]) bus and rail fares. Flexible rail season tickets for part-time commuters were introduced at last (but they're not good enough yet - watch this space!).
* Secured a national strategy for buses

After sustained campaigning by us, the Government published a National Bus Strategy ([link removed]) that included lower fares, more bus lanes, and thousands of new British-built zero emission buses.
* Helped rail lines and stations reopen

Bow Street station ([link removed]) opened after 50 years, funded by the New Stations Fund that was our brainchild. Regular passenger services returned ([link removed]) to the Dartmoor Line, and funding was promised ([link removed]) to help other lines reopen.
* Showed that train not plane is the way to go

Our train vs plane race ([link removed]) from London to Glasgow caused a stir on social media, but which was quicker from door to door?

A green transport future is possible. Trains, buses and trams, walking and cycling, have amazing potential to replace polluting journeys. But they need support. Please make a donation to our Christmas appeal ([link removed]) today, however small, or sign up to give a few pounds a month. Thank you.

Paul
