The filibuster is what stands between us and desperately needed voting rights protections. When Hank was arrested for protesting the filibuster last July, it became a national story that brought attention to the subject. Now, we’re seeing the momentum he created come to a peak.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has vowed to call a vote on voting rights legislation, and is also pushing to remove the filibuster for passage. Multiple Senate Democrats and President Biden — who used to support keeping the filibuster intact — have announced they will now support the carveout of the filibuster.  

This could be the moment we pass real voting rights protections in this country. As Republicans demonstrate they’re willing to win elections by stopping people of color from voting, we can’t afford to wait.
