Last year could easily be dubbed “the year of the striking worker.” From John Deere to Kellogg’s, workers have come together to demand fair pay, better benefits, and sustainable schedules. The problem is that employers have the upper hand when it comes to union negotiations.

Take, for example, the three-month strike at Kellogg’s. Factory workers had been forced to work 80-hour weeks, and the company was about to cut their benefits – so the union at Kellogg’s decided to go on strike. In retaliation, Kellogg’s threatened to permanently fire and replace the striking workers.

When executives use tactics like these during negotiations with unions, it’s almost impossible for workers to win – even when workers have a majority of the company on their side.

That’s why we’re working on passing the PRO Act to give workers a fair shot to form unions and even the playing field when it comes to negotiations. This landmark legislation would:

* Prohibit employers from permanently replacing striking workers
* Fine companies for violating workers’ rights and hold executives accountable
* Stop companies from mandating attendance at meetings that are expressly held to dissuade interest in unionizing
* Get rid of so-called right-to-work laws that make it nearly impossible for workers to organize
* Allow undocumented workers to unionize and stop employers from using a worker’s immigration status to threaten them

We desperately need this legislation to improve pay and working conditions for millions of Americans and protect our right to organize. But this bill is facing an uphill battle in the Senate, so we’re drumming up as much public support for it as possible – and we need your help.

Don’t cross the picket line: Stand with workers by telling your Senators to pass the PRO Act today!
