Yesterday, President Biden gave an important speech in Georgia where he rightly called for Congress to take immediate action to pass voting rights legislation to defend our democracy – even if it means changing the Senate rules to get it done.

One of the voting rights bills being blocked by the filibuster was introduced by myself and others and is named in honor of my dear friend, Congressman John Lewis, who put his own safety on the line to demand voting rights in Selma and continued the fight for 33 years in Congress.
