Tonight, I held my 220th meet and greet since I launched my campaign.

And I have to tell you, there’s one issue that comes up in every conversation I have with our neighbors - healthcare.

Our healthcare system is broken. You only have to listen to their stories to see why.

Here’s a sampling of what I’ve heard from every corner of our district: 

• “It’s not just that my insurance itself is expensive, it’s the hidden costs of referrals, specialists, prescription drugs, and time off work that add up.”

• “It almost feels like I have to play Russian roulette with my medication. One month I pay for my heart medication, the next one I pay for my insulin. I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t afford both.”

• “I hate my job, but I can’t leave because I will lose my coverage and the medications I need to stay healthy.” 

• “I’m healthy now, but it’ll be years before my finances recover from my illness.”

This is wrong. 

Everyone should be covered. Everybody in, nobody out. 

We need a system that works for all of us — and that’s why I’m a proud supporter of Medicare for All.
