On the Horizon | What to Watch in 2022

The world in 2021 continued to roil with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, intensifying competition between the world’s major powers, questions of trust inside many of the world’s leading democracies, and natural disasters made more intense by the effects of climate extremes. As we look to what is on the horizon in 2022, we contend with a geopolitical situation of greater uncertainty than at any time since the end of the Cold War.
