Hi John,

Wow. Results are in from this week’s local elections and voters across the country cast their ballots for gun responsibility. Continuing the momentum of the 2018 elections, voters proved that they want leaders at every level of government who will prioritize gun safety.

Here’s just a snapshot of the results: In Washington, 35 Alliance for Gun Responsibility Victory Fund-endorsed candidates are on track to win their seats. See the full list of endorsed candidates here:

And in Virginia, 23 Giffords-endorsed candidates were elected and gun responsibility candidates took control of the state legislature for the first time in a generation!

These results are evidence of what we already knew to be true: the gun lobby has never been weaker and the American people are ready for leaders who will champion gun violence prevention.

The importance of local elections like these cannot be overstated. Without local leaders dedicated to prioritizing gun safety, we can’t guarantee that commonsense gun safety measures will be enacted, or that existing gun laws will be adequately funded and implemented.

Electing these leaders is a crucial step in the fight against gun violence. Now comes the hard work of making sure those leaders support the commonsense policies we know will save lives in our communities.

Thank you for your help electing gun responsibility champions.

Onward,
Renee Hopkins
