Another competitive seat in Colorado opens a new front in House control. John, With the 2022 midterm elections coming fast, and the urgency of holding on to a Democratic House majority only growing, Ed Perlmutter’s retirement has shifted Colorado’s 7th district to a toss-up. Despite the fact that Rep. Perlmutter won by more than 20 points in 2020, Republicans could flip the seat in 2022. Why? Because Colorado’s independent redistricting commission made some of its biggest changes here: shifting strong Democratic precincts into the new 8th district, and adding GOP-leaning precincts to a much more competitive 7th. Not only that, but national GOP groups have begun circling like vultures—House Republicans have identified the district as a top target: and they only need a net gain of 4 seats to make Kevin McCarthy the next Speaker. In an unpredictable midterm election, with new district lines, and contested primaries on both sides, we can’t wait to counter the extreme right-wing noise machine already blaring in competitive areas. We have to marshal all of our resources to counter the millions of dollars that will pummel the people of the 7th District—and that means all of us coming together with $5, $15, or whatever we can do right now to win: If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Express Donate: $5 Express Donate: $15 Express Donate: $25 Express Donate: $50 Express Donate: $100 Or, donate another amount The Colorado Turnout Project strives to always produce smart, targeted, and substantively interesting digital outreach that cuts through the nonsense. We need your help to make sure that the people of this region of Colorado are part of the conversation; we can’t concede this to the Republicans or assume that the Democrats’ message will win the day. We need to be bold, aggressive, clear and concise. Thank you for contributing to this urgent work. -CTP Team The Colorado Turnout Project
