Van Hollen for Senate
President Biden

Friends,

President Biden gave an important speech yesterday in Georgia where he outlined the grave threat to democracy we face as a country.

I couldn’t agree more with his urgent call to stop delaying and take immediate action to change the Senate rules and to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act — two critical bills essential to protecting our right to vote and defending our democracy.

Add your name if you agree that our democracy is too important to let Republicans spread lies and push voter suppression without taking action to defend access to the ballot box!

Throughout 2021, I warned again and again about how our democracy faces a growing threat of authoritarianism from a Republican Party increasingly willing to abandon our core values to appease Donald Trump and his lies about winning an election that he clearly lost.

Voting rights is a right from which all others flow. If we don’t protect that right we turn our backs on the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, my late colleague John Lewis and so many others who sacrificed so much to secure the right to vote and make our democracy live up to its promise of 'one person one vote'.

As the President said yesterday, having greater numbers of eligible voters VOTE is not a "problem" in a democracy. Elections are about voters selecting their representatives, not about partisans selecting who should vote!

Sign here if you agree that this critical moment requires decisive action to pass voting rights legislation and defend our democracy!

Onwards

Chris
