I am writing to ask if you can make a contribution to my campaign for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. Please give me a chance to explain why your contribution – especially today – is so important.

Earlier this week, Ron Johnson announced that he's running for re-election. The following day, his campaign launched a pair of statewide TV buys.

The race to defeat him is officially on, and we don't have any time to waste.

There is no question that Wisconsin's Senate seat is one of the most likely to flip in November. But defeating Ron Johnson is going to require all of us. I cannot do it alone.

So here is the part where I ask:

Can I count on you to contribute to help flip Wisconsin's Senate seat and defeat Ron Johnson? We can do it, as long as we're in this together.

There is no doubt in my mind that our campaign is the best prepared to take on Ron Johnson and win. And that is because of the number of people who are stepping up to be a part of this team.

When I got into this race, I made the decision to reject corporate PAC money. And unlike some of my opponents, I do not have vast amounts of personal wealth to contribute to this campaign.

Instead, I'm depending on lots of people contributing what they can. That's how we're going to defeat Ron Johnson, and that is why I need to ask:

Can you please make a contribution to my campaign for U.S. Senate? Your donation is so important to the success of our campaign.

Now that Ron Johnson is officially running again, we need to focus our efforts on taking our message directly to voters and talking to people in every corner of the state.
