John,

As D.C. reinstates a public health emergency due to the Omicron variant of coronavirus, March for Life Action and its partners plan to openly defy D.C. public health guidelines at an indoor event on the morning of the so-called March for Life.

The Capitol Hill Club will be hosting a March for ‘Life’ Action breakfast reception on January 21, including featured guest Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who has consistently advocated against the life-saving vaccine and has been quite loud about refusing to be vaccinated.

Starting January 15, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s order requires at least one vaccine dose for events such as the March for Life Action Capitol Hill Club Breakfast. Greene does not meet that requirement, and yet March for Life Action is welcoming this open violation of public policy – and threat to public health – so they can fundraise.

This super-spreader event is a danger to the D.C. community and everywhere attendees return home to. Add your name now to call for the entire March for ‘Life’ 2022 to be canceled.

In solidarity,

Hospital workers pushing stretcher with words, Cancel the March for Life

John,

This may feel like déjà vu, as we successfully pushed the March for ‘Life’ to go virtual last year, [1] but the pandemic is not over and neither is our resolve to keep people safe, no matter what.

That’s why we’re calling on the March for ‘Life’ to cancel their in-person events again this year.

The Omricon variant of the coronavirus is ripping through cities, and D.C. has been hit especially hard. We’ve seen some of the highest case rates in the country, with over one hundred thousand as of this week and weekly deaths topping one thousand. [2, 3] At the same time, hospitals are overcrowded, presenting a grave danger to everyone with urgent medical needs.

Now is not the time to host a super-spreader event, let alone with a sizable portion of participants traveling from afar, many of them all too happy to chant “my body my choice” when they don’t want to wear a mask or be vaccinated. [4]

Moving forward with the March for ‘Life’ will cause harm. COVID is particularly dangerous for people of color, many of whom are crucial frontline workers in the metropolitan area of Washington, D.C. It must also be noted that children under the age of five are not yet able to access vaccines and pediatric hospitalizations are skyrocketing. [5] There is only one pro-life thing to do if you actually care about babies: To shut down the super-spreader March for ‘Life.’

The March for Life must not gather in Washington on January 21. Sign now if you agree.

Cordially,

Erin Matson

P.S. We have a duty to keep our communities safe. Let the March for Life know they’re not welcome to spread illness in D.C. and then bring it back to their own communities.
