This is urgent, folks. Republicans’ gerrymandered maps have been upheld.

Given North Carolina’s dark history with gerrymandering, we can’t say this comes as much of a surprise. Republicans, who claimed to be transparent in their map-making process, actually used “concept maps” unseen to the public to finalize their drawings.

North Carolina’s population has expanded and diversified over the past decade, and the new maps should reflect this. Instead, Republicans are so afraid of losing elections, they’ve rigged the system to their advantage.

If they succeed, Madison Cawthorn will have a clearer path to executing his plan of a right-wing, extremist takeover all across the state – starting with WNC.

We’re hopeful that this will be appealed to the North Carolina Supreme Court because the only folks who should be picking our representatives are voters.
