Happy New Year! Dream Corps JUSTICE has big plans for 2022, and we are just getting started.

Last year we had some huge wins, including:

#DayofEmpathy — Together, we hosted the largest day of action for criminal justice in America, bringing thousands together across 40 events held in 36 states.
#DignityForIncarceratedWomen — Led by formerly incarcerated women, this campaign has improved living conditions for more than 30,000 women incarcerated in 13 states. In 2021, we added Arizona and Missouri to this list, improving the lives of women across the country.
#KeepThemHome — We worked closely with our partners at FAMM to ensure that the 4,000+ people released on home confinement under the CARES Act will not have to automatically return to prison at the end of the pandemic.

As a continuation of our commitment to reshaping the criminal justice system, in 2022 we’re going to focus on the following federal reforms and initiatives:

Pass the EQUAL Act — Our team advocated tirelessly in 2021 to pass the EQUAL Act in the House and this year, our goal is to finish the job in the Senate. This bipartisan legislation will end the shameful disparity in sentencing between crack and powder cocaine.

Pass the Bipartisan Criminal Justice Package— We will continue the fight to pass this expansive bipartisan legislation that will dramatically reduce the number of people in federal prison and ensure fairness in federal sentencing laws.
