John,
President Biden just finished speaking in
Georgia. The White House sees Georgia as “ground-zero” for voting
suppression tactics by Republicans, and so do I.
That’s why I traveled with him and Vice
President Harris to make this important trip. And by the way, we
gathered at my alma mater – Clark Atlanta University.
As we pass one year since the January 6
insurrection, we’re reminded just how fragile our democracy is.
Our former president refused to accept the results of a free and
fair democratic election, and spurred his followers to commit a
violent attack on our nation's Capitol.
From the moment President Biden was elected,
Republicans have decided their efforts are best spent restricting
the right to vote for people of color in America. They’re pulling
the old Jim Crow playbook out to win again.
We can’t let it happen. With the eyes of the
nation focused on our backyard today, will you pitch in to
support our work to preserve the right to vote?
