Hi there,

If you’ve spent any time watching cable news or scrolling through Twitter recently, there was no escaping the wall-to-wall coverage of Washington, D.C. politics and punditry.

But in the midst of all that noise, some really good things were happening for the Granite State. Last week, I introduced the National ACERT Grant Program Authorization Act in the House.

ACEs, or Adverse Childhood Experiences, are events in a child’s life which can have serious and lasting impacts on future well-being, success and risk of violence. And in the throes of the opioid crisis, even more children are being exposed to such life-altering experiences.

My bill will help create ACE Response Teams (ACERTs) to ensure first responders and law enforcement officials - who are often the first person a child sees after such an experience - can connect with care providers and experts to help children who have suffered trauma get the support they need quickly. We have seen positive results in Manchester and Laconia, and my legislation, a companion to Senator Shaheen’s, would nationalize this program across the country.

My team and I put together a quick poll to hear from you about our new bill to help children nationwide. If you have a minute or two, we'd love to hear from you. I'll be reviewing responses tomorrow morning, so please add your input before midnight:

Should Congress pass the National ACERT Grant Program Authorization Act?
YES // NO ([link removed])

Thank you for participating in our poll. I can't wait to hear from you.

Best,
Chris
