Last week was the one-year anniversary of the January 6th attack on our Capitol.
While publicly condemning the assault on our democracy that happened that day, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick spent the last year failing to take meaningful action and sided with the most radical factions of the Republican Party to further his own political career.
1. He voted against impeaching Donald Trump and holding the former President accountable.
2. He voted against creating a bipartisan select committee to investigate the attack and whether it went all the way up to the Oval Office itself, and then voted against holding Mark Meadows accountable for refusing to cooperate.
3. He accepted tens of thousands of dollars from members of the “Sedition Caucus” – Republicans who voted against certifying the results of the 2020 election.
4. He held a fundraiser with one of his top donors who organized buses for hundreds of people to attend the January 6th rally in DC, and even provided him counsel as he dealt with the FBI.
Simply saying that the assault on our democracy was wrong is not enough – and Brian Fitzpatrick’s actions speak volumes to his character and his priorities. Pennsylvania’s First District deserves better.
