I’d like to show you a few numbers. Stop me when you figure out what’s
wrong:

Average Annual Cost in 2009:
Housing: $16,895
Groceries: $3,753
Health care: $3,126
Hourly minimum wage: $7.25

Average Annual Cost in 2019:
Housing: $20,091
Groceries: $4,440
Health care: $4,968
Hourly minimum wage: $7.25

Figure it out? The national minimum wage hasn’t moved in a decade, while
inflation has made even basic necessities unaffordable for working-class
families.

peg it to inflation so that we never see numbers like these again. Will
you donate
$3
to my reelection campaign to bolster our fight?

Working people across the country need a break. For years, this economy
has forced people to do more with less, and blamed them for it personally.

Not anymore. Our progressive economic agenda centers wage growth, lifts up
middle-class families, and makes sure the voices of rural Americans and
others who’ve been left behind are finally heard. Raising the minimum wage
is just the beginning.

In solidarity,

Ro Khanna
