Hello,
Tuesday night, Democrat Andy Beshear won the governor’s race in Kentucky – defeating Republican incumbent Matt Bevin and sending shockwaves and fear throughout the entire Republican party.
Already, Mitch McConnell and his team are trying to brush off the defeat as a “nothing burger.” One of his allies tried to argue that “Bevin was uniquely unpopular, even within his own party… Lowest approval of any governor in America.”
But here’s the thing… A uniquely unpopular incumbent? Even among his own base? In a state where voters just proved without a shadow of a doubt that they’re willing to split the ticket and vote for a Democrat against a man they despise?
That sure does sound like Mitch McConnell to us…
Mitch McConnell’s approval ratings are TERRIBLE in his home state of Kentucky. They’re worse than they’ve ever been. Even a third of Trump voters say they’re ready to Ditch Mitch next November. And just like Matt Bevin who was defeated on Tuesday night, McConnell is the most unpopular senator in the entire country!
Donald Trump held a rally in Kentucky on Monday the night before the election. Mike Pence was in the state campaigning this weekend. Even Don Junior and Ben Carson did events. But none of it was enough to save the Republicans. And if Mitch McConnell thinks that Trump and all those other big names will be in Kentucky next year on the night before election day trying to save him – well, he’s got another thing coming.
We can defeat Mitch McConnell next year. Even Donald Trump’s own pollster is saying that Amy McGrath is in a statistical tie with McConnell. And Nate Silver says this is a race that Democrats can win. But we have to keep up the momentum!
We're about to go up tomorrow morning with a new TV ad against Mitch McConnell in Kentucky – with our biggest ad buy yet! (Shhh! Don’t tell the Republicans!) But we need to raise another $100,000 before Monday if we’re going to be able to keep the ad running through next week, and we’re counting on grassroots donors like you to give now to do it:
Ready or not, Mitch. Here we come!
