States across the country like Georgia and Texas are passing racist, anti-democratic laws to make it harder to vote, and we need to take action before the 2022 election.
As states are becoming more diverse, and therefore more competitive, Republican legislatures on the state level have done whatever they can to suppress the vote. Now with Trump endorsing dozens of candidates at the state and local level who have power over election law, it’s more imperative than ever that we enshrine our most fundamental right to vote into law at the federal level. The filibuster is an archaic rule that the GOP has already cut to pack our Supreme Court with far-right ideologues; now as we face partisan gerrymandering and racist voter suppression policies sweeping the country, it’s time for Democrats to step up.
