New year, new resolve to fight racist voting restrictions.
[[link removed]]Hey John,
This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Weekend, we are joining Martin Luther King III,
Arndrea Waters King, and Yolanda Renee King. The King family, and more than 150
organizations are sending a clear message to President Biden and Congress: You delivered for bridges, now deliver for voting rights.
We just saw President Biden and Congress use the full weight of their power to
pass the infrastructure bill, now we are demanding they do the same to pass
federal voting rights legislation.
Democracy is connected to many important issues young people care about. If we
are ever going to see progress on these issues, we must have a democracy that
represents the will of the people. We must protect our elections.
That’s why this weekend we will honor Martin Luther King, Jr., his family’s
legacy, and that of civil rights leaders by advocating for legislative voting
rights action NOW. Want to join the movement? Take part in either of the King family’s peace walks
in Phoenix, Arizona or Washington, DC.

Can’t make it to either event? That’s okay, you can take action now by telling Congress #DeliverForVotingRights by passing the
Freedom to Vote Act.

We are just one week from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s Martin Luther
King, Jr. Day deadline to unrig the rules of democracy so that our elected
officials can finally deliver for voting Rights. (1) It is time they deliver for our voting rights by passing the Freedom to Vote
Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
Best,
