John,
Big Pharma corporations rang in the new year with price hikes on hundreds of drugs. They think we have no choice but to pay whatever price they set―but they’re wrong.
Democrats can deliver life-saving policies to lower prescription drug prices this year. But West Virginia’s Democratic Senator Joe Manchin is still standing with Mitch McConnell to block it. We need to keep up the pressure!
Social Security Works has updated our billboard trucks for 2022, and they’re hitting the road in West Virginia today. Donate $7 to keep them on the road!
Just before the holidays, Senator Manchin announced that he was walking away from the Build Back Better Act―the package that can’t be filibustered by Republicans. But he’s continued to have conversations with Senate leadership and President Biden. This isn’t over, and we can’t give up!
As SSW Executive Director Alex Lawson told the Washington Post this week:1
“The policies we’re fighting for—like letting Medicare negotiate prices—are incredibly popular in West Virginia, and Manchin is clearly not listening to people in his state. Biden has to bring the full weight of the presidency to bear on Joe Manchin to get his vote to get Build Back Better across the finish line. I know the grass roots are not in any way giving up on Joe Manchin, and we’ll make it harder and harder for him to not listen to what the people in West Virginia are demanding he do.”
Keep the pressure on Joe Manchin by keeping our billboard trucks driving around West Virginia, driving phone calls to his office! Donate $7 today!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan
