Dear John, Chick-fil-A is yet again under attack, and this time the attack is global! The first and only Chick-fil-A in the United Kingdom opened a few weeks ago and is already being forced to shut down in six months' time thanks to pressure from LGBT activists. This news comes after a local 'Pride' group protested outside the restaurant. The management of the Oracle Centre Reading, the mall where Chick-fil-A is located, caved to the pressure of activists and is refusing to renew the lease. Mall management believes shutting down the UK's only Chick-fil-A is "the right thing to do" because of the Chick-fil-A's known Christian values and belief structure that marriage is between one man and one woman. We need to let the management of the Oracle Centre Reading mall know what we think of this unfair discrimination. Click here to sign and urge Mr. Briggs, General Manager of Oracle Centre in Reading, to demand Chick-Fil-A to remain open. Chick-fil-A is known worldwide for its delicious chicken and waffle fries, excellent customer service, and commitment to the local communities where each store is located. Since Chick-fil-A operates from a Christian point of view, employees are paid salaries higher than the minimum wage and receive full benefits. Chick-fil-A is known for closing on Sundays to allow employees to spend time with their family and attend Church services if they prefer. Chick-fil-A does not discriminate against customers or employees. As a charitable foundation, Chick-fil-A only donates to worthy causes, such as education projects, helping the homeless, and the economic regeneration of urban areas. Because they give to specific Christian projects, LGBT activists have accused Chick-fil-A of spreading hatred and intolerance and are demanding that they are shut down.
In the minds of the intolerant left, one of Chick-fil-A's more severe crimes is having a CEO who spoke out against same-sex marriage in 2012. So what activists are saying is that anyone who disagrees with their cause on account of their religious beliefs, should not be able to run a successful business. This is outrageous! We must put pressure on the management of this shopping center not to succumb to such authoritarian tactics. Click here to sign the petition! Chick-fil-A employs 34 people at their only U.K. location. They strictly hire from the local area and were looking to recruit more employees. If the store is forced to close, each employee will lose their job and may now find it difficult to find new employment thanks to the shopping center’s confirmation that this is an undesirable company. It is not the role of a commercial landlord to police the religious beliefs and ethics of their tenants. Has the mall similarly investigated the charitable activities of other companies whom they lease to and make sure that all of their business follows an ethical code? Our U.K. Campaigner, Caroline Farrow, visited the restaurant last Monday in order to assure them of the support of everyone at CitizenGO and they told her that they had a lot of support from the local community too. The restaurant was very busy and many of the customers expressed their support and told her of how Chick-fil-A is very community-minded and always the first to arrive with free deliveries of hot food whenever there is a local emergency. If a company is forced to donate to LGBT causes, this is not about charitable giving... but it’s more similar to an enforced LGBT tax. Companies like Chick-fil-A should not be denied the chance to enter a level playing field and compete for trade because of their Christian beliefs. Raising our voices together, let's put pressure on the general manager of the Oracle Centre, Mr. Briggs, so that he will feel the dissatisfaction of thousands of potential customers and be motivated to reconsider his decision so as not to lose profits. Your signature will make a difference here! Please sign our petition, asking the management of the Oracle Centre Reading mall, not to succumb to the LGBT bullies and allow this restaurant a chance to compete fairly along with every other business. Thank you, Gregory Mertz and the entire CitizenGO team More information: LGBT protest held over Chick-fil-A (BBC): https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-50108255 |
