The basic premise of democracy is that the people have the power.

But in the halls of Congress today, powerful special interests drown out the people. Our elections are too often awash in dark money--money from corporate titans, ideological special interests, and self-interested billionaires.

We can fix that. And we can start right now.

There are three Democrats running for the US Senate in Massachusetts in 2020. The question is: Will we agree to a People's Pledge to ensure that the people have the power?

As of this moment, Shannon Liss-Riordan and I are ready to sign on the dotted line. But we're waiting on Senator Ed Markey.

Back in 2013, Mr. Markey called on his opponent to take the pledge, saying it would stop the "tsunami of politically polluted money that swept across all of the rest of the United States."

That was true in 2013, and it's even more true today.

Here's what you can do right now: Make a small donation to our campaign. Every amount counts.

What matters to me is how many people participate.

Even better, your donation will fund our organizers who are hitting the streets and organizing town-by-town, block-by-block, person-by-person.

We can start fixing our democracy right now. It starts with you.

Chip in what you can.
