This is incredible, friend: After years of dragging its feet, the EPA has finally updated their findings on PFAS’ impacts on human health. Their bottom line? Safe levels of exposure to PFAS should be THOUSANDS of times lower than the limits it proposed just five years ago. PFAS (also known as “forever chemicals”) are used to make stain repellent and nonstick consumer products, but even very low doses of PFAS are linked to suppressed immune function, reduced vaccine effectiveness and even cancer. But that’s not all – due to poor disposal practices, and the fact that these chemicals do not break down, more than 200 million Americans could have PFAS contaminating their drinking water right now. A new analysis of Pentagon records even found that industrial facilities could be unwittingly burning PFAS-contaminated firefighting foam to this day. Outrageous! EWG is fighting to rid our air and water of dangerous chemicals like PFAS. But we need your help to do it. We’re looking for supporters to help us craft EWG’s 2022 plans. Can you take this quick survey by midnight tonight and let us know if you think PFAS should be banned? |
