** Fortunately, the folks who brought you lockdowns and promised to shut down the virus aren't really killing it on the climate control front either.

Washington Examiner ([link removed]) (1/9/22) reports: "While President Joe Biden continues to pursue anti-energy initiatives at the national level, those same policies appear to be unraveling at the state level...What will this mean for people who need to heat their homes, buy groceries, fill their tanks, and pay utility bills? The answer comes in the form of a multistate climate change agreement that reflects in microcosm what Team Biden is attempting to do nationally. Recent developments in key states suggest the agreement may be in the early stages of collapse for the same reasons Build Back Better has stalled federally...In Pennsylvania, the proponents of affordable energy have a heavier lift since the governor is not in their corner. RGGI participation hinges in part on how many members of Wolf’s party want to run for office while advocating carbon taxes. Attorney General Josh
Shapiro, the Democratic candidate for governor, clearly does not. He’s publicly expressed misgivings about RGGI despite the fact that his office has approved the rule enabling Pennsylvania to join. That’s a politician trying to have it both ways. But that’s not so easy to do with Biden pursuing energy taxes at the federal level while Wolf makes a final push to join RGGI in the run-up to the midterm elections. Interesting times await."

** "Protecting energy choices for consumers means that residents can pursue 'cleaner' electricity sources if they want to or can afford to, while not punishing those who don’t have the option."

When team Biden says they care about high prices at the pump, they technically aren't lying. They do care about them. Just not in the way you might think...

(1/10/22) reports: "US president Joe Biden is setting out an aggressive regulatory agenda this year to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as Democratic lawmakers remain deadlocked over how to enact ambitious climate policy through a major spending bill. The White House initially looked to the Democratic-controlled Congress to handle the heavy lifting on climate policy, given the difficulty of achieving lasting emissions cuts through regulation by executive agencies. Biden's initial plan for climate legislation included a carrot-and-stick programme to support clean electricity, subsidies for electric vehicles, an import fee tied to carbon intensity, a fee on excessive oil and gas methane leaks, and clean energy tax incentives. But opposition from moderate Democrats has already cut the bill's cost in half, to $1.85 trillion, and its more restrictive climate policies have been taken out."

Dear Boris, is eating ginger you energy strategy? Is this what we should do to fight climate change—eat food in the cold?

Sure they don't work when it's cold, but whatever. We'll throw in a free tow for your troubles.

(1/10/22) reports: "This Tesla customer lives in Saskatchewan, Canada, but he picked up his Model Y in Calgary because his home state did not have a Tesla delivery location at the time. Trusting the EV maker’s promise that the Model Y would be the best Tesla ever in cold climates, Mark just enjoyed his electric crossover until winter said 'hi.' 'January 2021 came, and we had no heat in our cabin unless plugged in or standing still. The car was first towed mid-February to Saskatoon literally days after the opening of that location. After a four-week stay in the service center, we got our car back, having had a major rebuild of the heat pump system, replacing a part called the Super Manifold. The Super Manifold is one of the components that Sandy Munro was most impressed with when he and his team tore down a Model Y – that and the Octovalve. Both are part of the heat pump system that made the electric crossover more efficient. It seems nobody asked if it would also be more effective. In
Mark’s case, it was not. The car seemed fixed, but the worst of winter was over by mid-March. To Tesla's credit, they paid for the tow from Estevan to Saskatoon and a rental for the entire time. However, Tesla does expect you to retrieve the vehicle at your own expense.'"
