As we pass the one year mark since the attack/insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, we must hold the events of that day as a sobering reminder of the continued attacks on our movement’s efforts to create a multiracial democracy. At the top of this new year, we want to reiterate our goal of getting real about building this work, to achieve something that as a country we’ve never experienced. That includes Race Forward’s work contributing to a vision that is bolder, and work that is more intentional than ever.
Join us for the following events and trainings to get started:
#RaceAnd: The Fight For Reproductive Justice - Tuesday, January 25
Hear from reproductive justice leaders as they share organizing, policy, narrative, and community resilience practices centering BIPOC, queer, and trans people. These expert panelists will lead the conversation by framing the fight for reproductive justice in the experiences of communities deeply impacted by the threats to abortion rights. Learn how you can get involved.
This webinar is part of our #RaceAnd series which places race at the forefront by exploring the intersectionality of race and racism with various identities, issue areas, and systems of oppression.
Honest Education for a Multiracial Democracy: Presented by Race Forward’s H.E.A.L. Together Initiative - Thursday, January 27
Join Race Forward President Glenn Harris, the H.E.A.L. Together team, and special guests, including Sum of Us author Heather McGhee for a discussion on how they are organizing to counter the attacks on critical race theory at the school district level, as well as the vision for working to win the honest education students deserve.
Race Forward’s H.E.A.L Together (Honest Education Action & Leadership) is a new national organizing initiative to unite our communities around a vision for honest and fully funded public education as a foundation for thriving communities and a multiracial democracy.
Racial Justice Training - various dates throughout the month
Learn how you and your organization can build, organize for, and institutionalize racial equity to ensure policies and decisions that center people of color.
Level 1: Building Racial Equity (BRE) –– this foundational training emphasizes how to challenge and change institutional racial inequities (prerequisite for ORE and DRE trainings)
Level 2: Organizing Racial Equity: Shifting Power (ORE) –– strengthens participants' collective analysis of power while providing useful tools and framework to shift power to advance racial justice in this time.
Level 3: Decision-making for Racial Equity (DRE) –– focuses on providing a framework that disrupts dominant forms of decision-making that can perpetuate racial bias.
This year will be crucial for us to build collective power to dismantle systemic racism that affects our communities. Join us in this movement!
In Solidarity (and with good energy for the upcoming year),
The Race Forward Team
