This month marks 49 years since the Supreme Court's landmark decision,
Roe v. Wade. For nearly half of a century, women's autonomy in the United States has been protected – but this could all change
very soon.
Roe v. Wade was a critical ruling in the fight for achieving gender equality, but the fight was never over. Sadly, today nearly 90 percent of American counties are still without a single abortion provider, and access altogether is on the brink of being repealed by courts.
One thing is clear: We cannot move backward on the question of gender equality.
The Women's Protection Act will keep the right to access abortion care throughout the United States from being meddled with by providers or governments and give individuals the right to challenge restrictions in court.
We must come together as a country and pass legislation that protects a woman's right to choose and make health decisions concerning her own body.

Antonio has been a voice we can count on to defend a woman's right to make her own health decisions. He has received an endorsement from Planned Parenthood, which has fought for women's rights since before
Roe v. Wade's decision in 1979. That's because he refuses to be silent on this issue, and has been fighting to advance gender equality and protect a woman's autonomy over her body.
Now more than ever, we need a representative who knows that reproductive care is health care, and is willing to fight to protect safe abortion access for all women.
