John,
We finally have the White House’s attention on the dangers of biometric surveillance.
The directors of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) have announced they want to create an artificial intelligence (AI) Bill of Rights that protects us against the worst harms of data-driven technologies, and they’re seeking the public’s input as they do it.1
Of course, Big Tech is doing everything possible to ensure the end-result of this process works to their advantage. That means watering down any provisions that would pave the way for banning dangerous AI tools like biometric surveillance – i.e., the tools they’re making billions from. If we don’t mobilize powerfully to deliver our message to the White House, their army of lobbyists will successfully drown out the concerns of everyday people.
Send a message to the White House: we need an AI Bill of Rights and a ban on harmful AI tools now.
TAKE ACTION
From event entry, to mortgage approval, to health care access, to test proctoring, AI is now shaping almost every aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, reports show this tech consistently exacerbates existing social inequities and discrimination in each of those areas and so many more.2
The White House’s AI Bill of Rights should help clarify and protect the human rights and freedoms that AI technologies have been violating. Once finalized, it will lay the groundwork for future federal policy and regulation.
Tell the White House you support the development of an AI Bill of Rights AND banning harmful AI tools like biometric surveillance.
Every message that reaches OSTP’s inbox will pressure the Biden Administration to prioritize the rights of the people surveilled and impacted by this tech – not the profits of the corporations developing it.
Tell the White House: Ban dangerous biometric surveillance and harmful AI tech now.
Onward,
Leila & the Team at Fight
