A few days ago, it was reported that Kern County — the county that makes up the majority of California’s 23rd District — is “bracing for a COVID surge.”
This was preventable. This was something we could see coming. And our representative in Congress, Kevin McCarthy, has taken no action to stop it.
He has fought against mask mandates that would have saved lives. He has fought against vaccine mandates that would have saved lives. And now that our communities are facing yet another surge, his failure to lead is evident.
This surge disproportionately affects the workers that he has commended as “essential”. Our health care workers are tired. Our communities are tired. We have asked for help and he has ignored us. Every. Single. Time.
