Dear Friend,
On behalf of everyone at Waterkeeper Alliance, happy new year! I hope you’re looking forward to a fresh start in 2022 with hope and optimism — and a continued desire to be a part of our work to protect everyone’s right to clean water.
For many, the start of a new year is the time to look ahead to a future filled with promise and possibility. It is a moment to think about all we want to accomplish and to plan for the expected and unexpected.
These past few years have redefined the “unexpected” and we are all searching for ways to take back control over circumstance. It’s no longer about making resolutions, but being adaptable to the moment and finding grace in living and giving.
Despite the changes and challenges, we have all gained a renewed appreciation for the simple things in life and there is nothing more basic than ensuring everyone has access to clean water. That is why today I want to provide you with a few simple actions you can take to ensure the year ahead is the best it can be for you and your loved ones.
* Schedule a weekly hike or walk along your local waterway and pick up trash when you go!
* Contact the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today in support of urgently needed regulations on methane emissions (take action here! ([link removed]) )
* Create a free estate plan ([link removed]) to protect the people, pets, communities, and waterways you care about!
Best of all, these are all low-to-no-cost — including estate planning! Our partnership with FreeWill has helped so many members of the Waterkeeper Alliance community create a will and a legacy with the causes they care about, at no cost. Take advantage of this smart and simple way to get the year started with peace of mind today.

No matter what actions you decide to take, I hope 2022 brings happiness and cherished moments for you and your loved ones. Thank you for another year of supporting Waterkeeper Alliance.
Happy New Year!
Katie Cecil
Development Director
