Monday Nature Mystery

We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, John WilsonPlease email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to: [email protected]

Congratulations to John for correctly identifying the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus varius) from the holes they left behind in the American Holly tree. One cool fact about this species from All About Birds is that they make two types of holes - round ones are deeper while rectangular holes are more shallow and require maintenance. YB Sapsuckers eat the cambium of the tree as well!
