Nancy Pelosi and the MSNBC pundits are right. Our democracy is under threat. What they're wrong about (or, more accurately, lying about) is the threat long predates Trump — and the Democrats are one of the perpetrators of this threat.



Democrats spent 2021 attempting to abolish Federal matching funds for presidential campaigns that the Green Party, among other alternative parties, have relied on to fund ballot access efforts.



Yet their latest attempt to undermine voter choice did not cause them even the slightest hesitation to milk the anniversary of the January 6 Capitol riot for all of the alarmist, "end of democracy" rhetoric possible.



Does it make you mad that elite Democrats and Republicans preside over an army of elected officials, appointed bureaucrats, cynical lawyers, and bent judges to silence voters and candidates who refuse to bend the knee to their cartel, and only expect us to fear for democracy when a confused mob of otherwise disempowered Americans lashes out?

And by the way, who did Democratic Party leadership congregate with, to solemnly condemn the January 6 riot as an existential threat to our otherwise perfect and not-at-all-a-charade of a democracy?



Dick Cheney! The man installed as Vice President in 2000 through a judicial coup, the same election where Republican minions stormed recount halls in Florida in a far more destructive exercise of political violence than the January 6 yahoos could ever dream.



Dick Cheney, who spent eight years slashing and burning civil liberties while waging a global campaign of torture and war, all while enriching his buddies.



What better symbol for the bi-partisan rot that threatens to finish hollowing out what democracy we have left?
