Since I took office, I’ve fought for access to universal health care – even before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic – yet we haven’t seen the much-needed progress we’ve worked towards.
The Omicron variant has yet to reach its peak, and according to a recent report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, child hospitalization rates have hit record highs. Families do not deserve to be burdened with the question of how they’ll pay their bills in order to care for their children.
While I know this latest surge will pass, we can’t afford to ignore the devastating emotional, financial, and physical hardships COVID-19 continues to cause. Access to basic health care during a pandemic shouldn’t be considered a radical idea.
